MORRIS LIONS HIGH SCHOOL BOYS RUGBY
If you haven't tried playing rugby yet, now is the time - no experience necessary! The program is intended for students in high school, grades 9-12. Training sessions are designed to develop the skills necessary to succeed at this exciting sport, focus on fitness, running, passing and the strategic elements required to ensure a fundamental knowledge of the game. It will also ensure players are properly prepared if they wish to continue their rugby playing careers into college and beyond.
The program is run as a full contact sports activity with matches scheduled against other local community and single school programs, as part of the NJ State Based Rugby Organization (SBRO). USARFU Certified rugby coaches from the Morris Rugby Club make up the coaching staff.
The Rugby New Jersey 15 a-side season of league fixtures typically runs from March to the end of May. League games are usually played on Sundays. When possible, we look to play non-league scrimmages and also enter 1 or 2 tournaments during the year to introduce players to teams from outside the local area. We aim to provide players with opportunities to be successful in the High School sides matching boys based on skills, experience and ability with the strength of the opposition.
Practices and training sessions are held in front of the Mennen Arena, Morristown on Tuesday and Thursday evening, 6pm to 7.30pm during the Fall and Spring. Further practices are arranged during the winter, weather permitting.

Other program options include our Summer and Fall teams entering 7 a-side tournaments.
BRING FOR TRAINING
Mouth guard (required for all training and matches), water, sneakers and rugby cleats or equivalent, and dress appropriately for the conditions.

The players are expected to participate in some fund-raising activities to maintain the level of costs. Additional costs may be incurred for tournament transportation and accommodations.

MANDATORY FORMS
Along with registration players will need to complete the following:
- USA Rugby Annual Membership/Renewal. Players must have a membership number (CIPP)
- Copy of School Physical or USA Medical Questionnaire, with photo copy of insurance details. https://assets.usarugby.org/docs/medical/medicalhistory_questionnaire.pdf
These forms will be kept on the sideline for use by the Athletic Trainers or Medical Personnel in case of player injury.
