Jack O’Connor Wins Willie Blumberg Memorial Award
On Saturday, June 26th, John Sutherland presented Jack O’Connor with the Willie Blumberg Memorial Award at the High School Boys’ end of season celebration. Congratulations Jack!
The Willie Blumberg Memorial Award acknowledges a senior player from the boys’ program, who is voted on by the players for giving his all at training and each match, being an active member of the club, showing exemplary sportsmanship and personifying a great all-around player and individual.
In 2003, the family of one of the Lions founding members, David Levin, wanted to dedicate an award to the living memory of David’s uncle, Willie Blumberg. In his youth, Willie, like many South Africans, enjoyed playing school rugby and in his later years was an equally avid armchair supporter. It is for these reasons that the Levin family was motivated to dedicate the award to a Morris Lion as a way of honoring the memory of David’s late uncle.

Dogs No Longer Permitted on Pocono Field
The Denville Recreation Department has placed a sign at Pocono Road stating “No Dogs Permitted on Fields.” As a club, we ask everyone to follow the rules so as not to jeopardize our use of the fields. Many of the Morris Rugby Family are dog lovers and owners, but dog owners should consider the safety of their dogs, players and spectators and whether the excitement and distractions at games and events are suitable places for dogs on ALL the fields we use. Morris Rugby suggests dogs are not brought to any of our home games and events. Thank You, |
