High School Girls Vying for EGRL Championship Tomorrow at 2nd Annual MAWRS
The much-anticipated Mid-Atlantic Women’s Rugby Showcase (MAWRS) returns to Bundt Park in Lebanon, NJ tomorrow! College scouts from 35 top programs will be in attendance to witness over 360 players competing in U14, U18 and U23 matches over two days. On Saturday at 9:30 am, our HS Girls take on Doylestown in the inaugural Elite Girls Rugby League championship match sponsored by Rugby New York. Come out and support the girls, then check out the US Women’s Rugby Foundation pop-up museum celebrating 50 years of women’s rugby in the USA! |

9 High School Boys Named to Rugby New Jersey’s All-Star Squad
Congratulations to the following Morris Rugby players selected for Rugby NJ’s HS Boys All-Star team: Andrew Gomez, Ayden Gomez, Connor Gilfillan, Evan Rothery, Isaac Gamboa, Ivan Gomez, Oliver Acuna-Casey, Shane Elvin and Tiyaan Pillay! This Sunday, June 12th, the team will play in the all-star tournament hosted by Rugby New York at JFK Stadium in Hoboken, NJ. Come out and support the boys at 11 am for the first match against Rugby NY, followed by a playoff match at 2 or 3 pm. Morris Rugby Seeking Head Coach for High School (U18) Boys Team
The coaching committee has announced the search for a new Head Coach to lead the Boys U18 Division in their 15s and 7s endeavors. The successful applicant will lead training, selection, conditioning, and strategy with the help of an Assistant Coach and will help facilitate tournament, league, fundraising opportunities with the help of a Team Manager and involved parents. Youth Flag Season Kicks Off Next Week!
Morris Rugby’s youth flag program is registering kids entering Kindergarten through 9th grade. The flag season starts next week and runs through July 23rd, with evening practices twice per week and Saturday morning games scheduled against neighboring towns. Upcoming Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Course
Morris Rugby is once again holding the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. clinic, required of all our coaches (18+) and any parent who may be assisting with a team and may “cover” for a coach till they get there. This course covers all sports and only needs to be completed once (it does not expire). The course will be held at the Dover Moose Lodge on Monday, June 20th from 6-9 pm. Arrive at 5:45 pm (latecomers will be turned away) and feel free to bring something to eat for dinner, or bring cash to purchase food from the Moose. Participants must stay to the end to earn certification. The course costs $35 payable in cash or check made out to Morris Rugby. Morris Rugby Recruiting at Morris County Pride Festival
Morris Rugby will be tabling at the 3rd annual Morris County Pride Festival presented by Edge NJ. The event takes place on Saturday, June 25th from 10:30 am to 5 pm on the County College of Morris campus. Volunteers Needed for Denville River Cleanup
Join us on Sunday, July 3rd from 9 am-12 pm for the annual Denville river cleanup. We are lucky to play rugby at all levels almost year round at Pocono Field. We all know the river floods our pitch annually—our efforts at the cleanup help the Denville community and ensure the quality of the field for years to come! So come out and support the Morris family and have some fun cleaning up the river. Meet at 9 am and wear long sleeves, long pants and bring gloves to protect against poison ivy! |
