Referee Training Session March 12
It’s been a long winter, so dust off your boots, grab your whistle and come out March 12 for a referee training session in place of our monthly meeting. Please RSVP here.
We’ll have some fun together, run around a little and do a few developmental activities that will get our heads back into the game for Spring. Bring your smartphone (or some other way to capture video), and you’ll end up with new strategies for improving your performance in the middle. There will be some opportunities to referee short scrimmages between two well-trained teams and get instant support for identifying personal goals for improvement. If you have never refereed before, this would be a great, low pressure way to take those first steps onto the field.
Basic outline:
1pm referee training
10mins warm-up
30 mins instructional pods
20 mins whistle-signal-talk developmental/refresher activity
2pm talk/demonstration with the Pelham team and visitors on tackling
2:30 KO – 5 or 6 15 minute periods, newest refs priority for refereeing / ARing with coaching
Key Details:
Plan to be on the field booted up at 1:00pm.
Glover Field, E Sandford Blvd, Pelham, NY 10803 (there is no street number; the entrance is right beside the entrance to the Hutchinson Parkway). Google Maps link. Although there is a parking lot right at the entrance, people should take the roadway to the left as they enter and drive past the baseball fields to the football stadium.
At 5:30pm ET, we’ll retire to a beverage and dining establishment nearby.
Please RSVP here. Please direct any questions to Ros, [email protected].
Best,
Matt Ford, RRSNY
