MORRIS U18 GIRLS
THE NEWEST OLYMPIC AND NCAA GIRLS SPORT!
WE NEED YOU!
After winning the NJ State Rugby Championship two years in a row and earning an invitation to the Girls High school Nationals where the team placed 2nd in Div II the Morris Girls U18 is on a quest to continue their NJ State Championship winning streak and to break into the top 5 teams nationally. We are always looking for additional players to field a 15s rugby team. Consider giving rugby a try. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to shine at this exciting sport, and we will train you from the ground up; no experience necessary. Morris Rugby is a strong organization and some of our girls have already been selected to represent the USA on the Girls Rugby team at the Youth Olympics as well as the High School All American teams. Some of our players have also been placed on the “watch” list for inclusion on the National team. With rugby going to the Olympics in Rio in 2016….that could be a life changer. Want to get involved??? We encourage ALL girls, in 9-12th grades, experienced or not to come out and give it a try!
After a few years of inactivity, the Morris Girls High School team was rekindled in 2012 when a group of 12 girls played the rugby game of 7s with great success, taking second place in their first ever tournament and then winning the remaining two. This success came against some experienced teams, and was well noted by USA rugby. Since that time, Morris has gone on to win the NJ State Girls Rugby Championship each of the following years.
HS girls (u18) 15-a-side (15s) rugby is a spring sport. There are optional weekly indoor sessions over the winter, before starting twice a week practices and weekly games in March. Immediately following the strength and conditioning sessions we have team sessions from 8-9 also at Sports Care Institute. There is a one time fee of $50
