MORRIS HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS RUGBY

WE NEED YOU!

Morris Rugby High School Girls welcomes all new players, with or without prior rugby experience. New players are welcome to come try out rugby at any of our open practices, and there is no cost to come try it out. We ask that all new players bring a mouth guard, cleats or sneakers, and a bottle of water.

Coming out of the covid 19 pandemic, Morris HS girls' rugby grew our team, and practiced as much as we could. Our team got better and went undefeated in 2021. We graduated 12 seniors with many going on to play in Division 1, 2, and 3 colleges.

2022 was looking to be a challenge, as the team graduated so many seniors. Our players stepped up, and the team went on to win the DC Furies Ruggerfest tournament, the Florida Invitational Rugby Showcase. Morris Rugby U18 Girls are also a founding team of the Elite Girls Rugby League (a first of its kind for the top girls' teams in the USA) and went on to win the league championship at the Mid Atlantic Women’s Rugby Showcase.

2023 is looking to be a great season, as we have many returning players, and many new players joining our team. The team will be starting the season with the Carolina Ruggerfest in Charlotte, NC. As well as also travel to Washington DC, and Asheville, NC for the HS Girls Nationals. The team will be competing its league schedule in the Elite Girls Rugby League (EGRL) again and hoping to defend the title. Morris Rugby U18 girls will also be playing in a curtain raiser before the MLR Rugby NY Ironworkers play Atlanta.

Feel free to contact any of the coaches for more information.

Just come out and try it!

Our team has a lot of fun, players and parents alike. Players get many offers from colleges in each division. We currently have a former player playing professionally in Europe and is also a current USA Eagle. We have many players in the WPL (Women’s Professional league). HISTORY:

After a few years of inactivity, the Morris Girls High School team was rekindled in 2012 when a group of 12 girls played the rugby game of 7s with great success, taking second place in their first ever tournament and then winning the remaining two. This success came against some experienced teams, and was well noted by USA rugby. Since that time, Morris High School Girls have gone on to even greater success and continues to grow.
