MORRIS HS GIRLS LOSE FIRST LEAGUE MATCH EVER 20-12 VS PLAY RUGBY

We can lay out some excuses for this loss. We were missing our strike runner Delia Hellander and our excellent scrum half Jess Nagie. The referee did not show up, so a coach had to take the duties over, which caused some players to lose focus. The try lines were not clear and we lost a try when that caused us to not “touch down”.

But the bottom line was that all fifteen players did not show up. That is, they were not all focused in today. Jordan Cowan was, and kept the match alive when she took the team within 3 in the second half with a hard tap and go to score. Brianna Whitfield also gave a good effort with a hard try through the middle. Allie Mennella added a conversion, but the cold weather prevented her from taking several PK opportunities.

In the end, a loss is a loss, and this one will cause us to lose the league championship, and be knocked down  in the national rankings. On the other hand, it offers us an opportunity to respond and prove that we are still a championship team.

Scoring tries for the day:

Brianna Whitfield

Jordan Cowan
