GAMES

Tournaments are held every Saturday.  Matches will begin at 9am (please arrive to all tournaments for 8:30am) Games generally last till 12 noon ~ TACKLE GAMES will begin AFTER the flag games. Directions to the different venues are posted on our website. Please let your coaches know week to week if you will be available to play. Our game schedules are due weekly to the hosting towns. The number of games we play will be based upon the number of available players we have scheduled.

UNIFORMS

Uniforms will be distributed BEFORE our first practice. Location & time TBA. We will make sizing adjustments at the first couple of practices as needed.  Please be patient with us during this time.  All of our players are important to our league and all deserve the one on one attention given at this time.

JUMP IN COACHES

Extra help is always needed! As our players grow to age 14, we tend to lose some amazing coaches that have become a part of our Rugby Family!  If you are interested in helping us out let us know. Prior experience is not needed.  We will teach you what you need to know even if you have never coached or played rugby before!

HOME MATCH

The home team sponsors light food & drink for our guests & players.  Extra hands will be needed during OUR home tournament which is scheduled for Saturday, July 13th at BIS (Byram Intermediate School).

TEAM PICTURES

Location & time slots TBA.

TEAM HISTORY

In the spring of 2002 Alex Ciaraffo and Wayne Lumkong decided their children need to learn the sport that both of them had enjoyed for years. Alex started playing rugby at West Virginia University and later found his way to Morris RFC. Wayne learned his rugby in Trinidad and later played for Rutgers and then Union RFC. Along they way they pick up a new comer to the neighborhood Peter Arnold who played in that far off rugby mecca of New Zealand.

With great support from the Morris Flag Rugby program the Byram Bruins began canvassing the local towns for recruits, Byram, Andover, Sparta, Newton, Ogdensburg and Alamuchy for players. Shortly, the program had near 50 players and a team in every age group the Flag Rugby program offered. The Bruins competed in 3 town tournaments that year and the Youth Flag Rugby Festival. The players and parents were energized and so with the help of friends, neighbors and the support of Morris Flag Rugby and the town of Byram, Bruins rugby was born.

Byram, Stanhope, Netcong, Hopatcong, Andover, Sparta & Newton are ALL participants on the Bruins Rugby Team.
